Game of the Week

Close Games Dominate

In the first full game slate, two games were nail biters and the third competitive. The first game went into extra innings with Mission Avacaado edging Instant Baseball 9-8. Jose Hernandez led the Avocado with 2 hits and 3 walks, Mission collected 11 walks for the day to go along way in helping them win. Jessie Aucelluzzo hit a 3-run homer to keep Instant in the game. Tim LeSeur also added 3-hits, but it just wasn't enough to overcome the free passes. The second game had the El Rio Hawks defeating the MVP Red Sox 3-2. All runs were scored in the first inning and pitching was the name of the game with Johnson going 6 innings allowing only 3 hits but all 3 runs (2 earned) while striking out 6 for Instant. A.J. Vega countered picking up the win for the Hawks pitching 6.2 innings while allowing 2 runs (none earned) and allowing only 4 hits. The final game of the day had La Cabana Restaurant beating McCarthy White Sox 6-0, but the game was well played after the first 2 innings when La Cabana scored 5 of its 6 runs. La Cabana used Josh Grajeda, Tyler Patton, and Nick Griffin to completely shut down the Sox. Jared Patterson had 2 hits and 2 walks to lead La Cabana. Aaron Gibson and Eddie Vasquez each had 2 of the total of 6 hits allowed. It looks like all teams are competitive and looking forward to the games in two weeks as the JCBL does not play on Fathers' Day.
